Batteries

DaCES’ working group on batteries engage in electrochemical energy storage technologies.

The activities include the entire value chain for electrochemical energy storage; from computer assisted material-synthesis to intelligent control and monitoring of industrial production processes. We have an interest in present lithium-based batteries as well as future post-lithium era technologies; so-called flow batteries and supercapacitors are considered in this context.

Specifically we work on the scaling of flow batteries for an optimized network connection in hybridization with electrical short term storage for network services (e.g. lithium batteries for supercapacitors). Another area of interest includes research of materials, development of components and cell-design of future post-lithium batteries.
